A short drive outside the gates of Assembly Lakes will put you right in the middle of some of the most unique and interesting shops in the Lowcountry.

Rich in the tradition of the Old South, take a look inside The Gullah O’oman Shop in Pawley’s Island. Story quilts, handmade sweet-grass baskets and other Gullah collectibles will bring a taste of the Lowcountry into your home. You can also enjoy lectures and seminars exploring the deep rooted traditions of the Gullah culture known only to the Lowcountry of the Carolinas.

The Original Hammock Shop makes handmade hammocks and has been since 1889. Designed by a Pawley’s Island river-boat captain in the 1800’s, the comfortable cotton design has stood the test of time and remains unchanged since the original. A perfect addition to any shaded garden or backyard retreat.

Heralded as “one of the most fascinating shops in the (Pawley’s Island) area…”, Eleanor Pitts Gifts, Jewlery and China offers an eclectic array of fine linens, jewlery, china, silver and Herend porcelain.

For the nature lover, The Audobon Shop and Gallery presents a fine selection of garden supplies, books, binoculars, handcrafted gifts and apparel.

Of course, a short trip to the north will find you right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach. There is a seemingly unlimited supply of boutique shops and locally owned favorites dotting the Grand Strand/Pawley’s Island area. From world-class golf to off-the-beaten-path Lowcounty crab shacks, water parks, miniature golf and fine-dining.
